Vaccination

Influenza

Need to protect yourself and others during flu season?

Vaccination is the best way to prepare your army of little soldiers against the spread of the influenza virus. Complications from the flu are among the leading causes of hospitalizations during seasonal flu.

Did you know that an annual flu vaccination gives you a minimum level of protection even if the strain is not the same as the one in the seasonal vaccine?

People who receive the flu vaccine every year are better protected in the event of a potential outbreak.

The flu vaccine is recommended once a year for everyone, but especially for those who appear on the following list:

  • People with chronic illnesses
  • Pregnant women
  • Children under the age of two (2)
  • People aged 60 and over
  • Everyone living with these vulnerable people
  • Healthcare workers

The flu

Transmission

Influenza is transmitted through contact with secretions from the nose and throat, either through sneezing and coughing or via infected hands and objects.

The flu

Prevention

The best protection against influenza is to get vaccinated every year and practice basic hygiene, especially frequent hand washing or hand sanitizing with an alcohol-based gel such as Purell®.

The flu is more than just a cold!
