{"id":1962,"date":"2023-04-02T14:49:29","date_gmt":"2023-04-02T14:49:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/accesinfirmieres.com\/vaccination\/adults\/tetanus\/"},"modified":"2025-06-02T17:49:03","modified_gmt":"2025-06-02T17:49:03","slug":"tetanus","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/accesinfirmieres.com\/en\/vaccination\/adults\/tetanus\/","title":{"rendered":"Tetanus"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\t\t\t<h4>Vaccination<\/h4><h3>Tetanus<\/h3>\n\t\t\t<h3>The target audience<\/h3>\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<ul>\n<li>People aged 50 and over for booster dose<\/li>\n<li>Travelers without access to medical services (under five (5))<\/li>\n<li>Workers who handle contaminated materials such as metal, wastewater, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Adults who have not received a tetanus vaccine since the age of 10<\/li>\n<li>All persons aged 18 and older with a contaminated wound who have not received a tetanus vaccine within the past five (5) years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t<h3>Symptoms<\/h3>\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<p>Symptoms usually appear within two (2) weeks after the start of infection.<\/p>\n<p>The most common symptoms are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sudden cramps and stiffness in the neck and\/or facial muscles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other symptoms that may be present:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Headaches<\/li>\n<li>Difficulty swallowing<\/li>\n<li>Jaw lock<\/li>\n<li>Body stiffening and muscles contracting in a jerky, involuntary manner<\/li>\n<li>Fever and sweating<\/li>\n<li>High blood pressure<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t<h3>Complications<\/h3>\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<ul>\n<li>Death<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t<h3>Transmission<\/h3>\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<p>Contact of a wound or cut with soil, dust, saliva, or feces from humans or animals. Activities such as gardening, cooking, or walking on the beach may pose a risk of contracting tetanus. <\/p>\n\t\t\t<h3>Prevention<\/h3>\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<ul>\n<li>Wearing sandals when walking on the beach<\/li>\n<li>Wearing gardening gloves<\/li>\n<li>Being safe with knives when cooking<\/li>\n<li>Avoid walking barefoot outdoors<\/li>\n<li>Keep your vaccinations up to
